Privacy Policy

Tragus, by thesam3llc · Last updated August 21, 2026

Tragus is an ear training app for musicians. This policy explains what information Tragus collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. In short: Tragus is built to work almost entirely on your device, and we don't collect anything that identifies you personally.

Information We Collect

Tragus does not require an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal identifiers to use the app.

The app stores the following information locally on your device only, using standard device storage:

This data stays on your device. We don't have a server that collects or stores it, and we can't see it.

Microphone and Audio

Tragus does not access your device's microphone. All audio in the app is generated locally for playback (piano samples and training tones) — nothing is recorded or listened to.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Tragus offers an optional Pro upgrade. Purchases are processed through Apple's App Store or Google Play, and subscription management is handled by our payments provider, RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of your purchase status (for example, whether you're a Pro subscriber) so the app can unlock Pro features, but we do not receive or store your payment card details — those are handled entirely by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat.

You can review RevenueCat's own privacy practices at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Third-Party Services

Tragus uses the following third-party services, each of which may process limited technical data (such as device type or purchase tokens) as part of their normal operation:

Tragus does not currently use any analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. If that changes in a future update, this policy will be updated to reflect it before the change ships.

Data Sharing and Sale

We do not sell your data. We do not share data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. The only data shared with third-party services is the minimum needed for those services to function, as described above.

Children's Privacy

Tragus is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because the app doesn't collect personal information at all, this applies to all users regardless of age.

Data Security and Retention

Since your progress and stats are stored locally on your device, they're protected by your device's own security (passcode, encryption, etc.). Deleting the app, or using the in-app "Delete All Data" option, removes this locally stored data.

Your Choices

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Tragus after a change means you accept the updated policy.
